Chargers vs. Broncos

No team in the NFL is hotter right now than the San Diego Chargers, winners of six straight games. The Chargers got another huge game from their all-purpose back LaDanian Tomlinson in Sunday's 24-21 win over Buffalo. LT ran for 178 yards and a pair of scores in the victory. The Broncos, meanwhile, have lost three straight, including a 23-20 decision to Seattle in Week 13. So will both streaks continue on Sunday?

I will say that the streaks will stop if Denver gets their act together, They should be able to stop the run and win the game

San Diego Chargers: Look to lock up AFC West against Broncos
Seahawks Huddle, WA - Dec 8, 2006
For the second time in three years, the stars are aligning. San Diego is in position to win the AFC West, securing their spot in the playoffs by doing so. In their way stands the Denver Broncos, losers of three straight games, including a 35-27 loss to San Diego in Denver three weeks ago.

Denver is a team that has gone from Super Bowl favorite to a team on the verge of not making the playoffs at all. The Broncos have switched quarterbacks, jettisoning Jake Plummer in favor of rookie Jay Cutler. Cutler fared no better than Plummer in his first game last week at home against the Seattle Seahawks. Cutler did have 2 touchdown passes but also threw 2 costly picks, 1 of which was returned for a touchdown.

The Broncos only chance to stay in the playoff race is to win and hope other contenders to lose. The Chargers lead over the 7-5 Broncos is three games. Kansas City has an identical record and hope to improve their standing as they face Baltimore this weekend.

Chargers win and wrap up the West. Not only that, but with Indy's loss, San Diego currently has the homefield advantage!

Re: Chargers vs. Broncos

With the race for home field advantage throughout the playoffs so close in the AFC, LT may not just break, but blow away the TD record.

With the Colts right on their heals for home field advantage I suspect LT won't be seing as much time on the bench as you'd expect for a team that has already clinched it's division. Averaging 3 TDs a game for the past 8 games, I suspect he'll have 5 more in the next 3 games to make the new record 34.

Any predictions for the final tally?

Aubrey

Good question, Aubrey - I'm going to go one more than you and say a nice, even 35. Then he breaks it again next year.
