Greg Schiano contract

According to the Associated Press, "Rutgers gave football coach Greg Schiano a four-year extension on Friday, the second time in less than two years that the school extended his contract... Schiano, who received a seven-year extension to 2012 in December 2005, is now signed through 2016. Financial details were to be revealed at an afternoon teleconference." Great move for Rutgers, and I really hope that Schiano -- unlike so many coaches these days -- decides to honor his contract and finish the job he's started. The Scarlet Knights are so close to earning a BCS bowl bid right now, it's downright scary.

Re: Greg Schiano contract

Definitely a great move by Rutgers to keep Schiano around and show him some loyalty. He deserves it.

I can't believe he signed. He could have gotten a lot more money going somewhere else after his contract expires.

Well, two things. From what I've seen and heard about Schiano, he's not that kind of guy. He wants to finish what he's started at Rutgers. And besides that, if he really wanted to go elsewhere after a year or two, he would. It's not like coaches are letting a little thing like a signed contract get in their way these days.

Good. America needs more people like that.
