Rutgers Shut Out Illinois, 33-0

Rutgers is now 2-0 on the season after shutting out the Fighting Illini, 33-0 earlier today. They looked pretty dominant in doing so, only allowing 41 yards passing and 66 yards rushing. The Scarlet Knights blocked a punt and intercepted Illinois QB Tim Bresic...both were returned for touchdowns in the first quarter.

I heard it was Rutgers first shut out since the 2002 season...wow. This win continues a three week homestand, before heading down to South Florida on the last week of September.

A great start to the season for Rutgers.

Re: Rutgers Shut Out Illinois, 33-0

I think Rutgers will upset either West Virginia or Louisville this year. This program is on the rise and soon could join the nation's elite with all the local talent available. Just keeping the New Jersey kids home would make Rutgers a perennial threat to win the Big East.

That RB of theres, Ray Rice, is unreal. But is he alone enough to lead the State University of New Jersey to upset wins over the Mountaineers or Cardinals? They're going to have to bring more to the table than just Rice.

Well the defense looked ok this week too, even though it was only Illinois. As I recall, they were 2nd in the NCAA in QB sacks last year. The coach is very good and he will figure out a way to win at least one of those 2 big games.
