#printDesc{display:none;}NEW YORK – The state-of-the-art technology that will turn the new Meadowlands stadium blue for Giants games and green for the Jets will shine Syracuse orange in 2012, 2014 and 2016.

But the $1.6 billion facility, set to open in 2010, may go scarlet red well before that.

Two sources told The Record on Tuesday that Rutgers is close to signing a deal to play at the Meadowlands in 2010 and the agreement should be announced prior to the start of this season. All indications are the opponent will be Army.

Only the “fine details” needed to be worked out, one source said.

Mark Lamping, CEO of the new Meadowlands stadium, said Tuesday that no deals have been finalized but college football games that potentially could fill the 82,500-seat facility are being sought.
