| Brawny Bovines Bounce Cowboys The rodeo bulls dished out the pain, but got a little dose of their own medicine from a rider aptly named Payne in the process. Wade Payne, from Beaver, Okla., was the only one of the 40 riders Wednesday night at the Copenhagen Challenger Tour pro bull riding event at the Salinas Sports Complex to complete both 8-second rides. Payne's two-ride score of 80-87 - 167 was the lowest since the bull-riding only event started coming to Salinas eight years ago. The highest score of this event came during its first year in Salinas in 2001 when Dave Samsel scored 184. Payne's first-place finish was worth $8,700. ![]() Wade Payne of Beaver, Oakla., the winner of Wednesday's Professional Bull Riding event at the Salinas Sports Complex, rides Whirly Gig to a score of 80 points.
