Over a year ago Stran Smith's prize roping horse, Topper, was killed in a hit and run after wandering onto a highway in front of Smith's house.
But the 9 time Wrangler National Finals Rodeo tie-down roping qualifier has replaced his former AQHA world champion with a 15 year old mare named Destiny.
Smith now ranks 5 in PRCA tie down standings.
"Destiny probably fits me better than any horse I've ever had. She's taken my job back to where its fun and easy, "Smith said.
Destiny was voted top tie-down roping horse by fans at the 2007 National Finals in Las Vegas.
