Chris Guay competed in college rodeo and the PRCA. Now at 45, he's been a coach 11 years at Texas Tech.
After being sideline for 3 months with a broken elbow at the Houston Livestock Show Rodeo, he knew there were no guarantees about making a good living at rodeo and got an education.
He tells his athletes not to sell themselves short and get a degree.

lol, he's got a point. i have some friends who rodeo in the NSPRA.

it takes money to rodeo and the older we get, the harder being on the road all the time is...

I believe in the value of an education so I agree with him.

Correct me if I am wrong, but dont you have to pay an entry fee, and if you dont qualify, you get nothing??

I have to compare it to guys in the NFL who say they play for love of the game but make millions on their contract and generally want more.

Even those cowboys and cowgirls make it to the WNFR and win it don't make millions.
