Richard Childress Racing and Pennzoil have teamed up to bring awareness to the importance of used motor oil recycling and to the Pennzoil Clean Change Campaign.
On Saturday at Phoenix, Kevin Harvick's No. 29 Shell-Pennzoil Chevy will feature the Pennzoil Clean Change Campaign logo and Web site (www.cleanchange.org) on it's decklid.
The whole goal of the campaign is to get and encourage do it yourself oil changers to properly recycle used motor oil and do their part to help maintain a clean environment.
The used motor oil from one oil change that is improperly disposed, has the potential to contaminate up to one million gallons of drinking water.
"It's estimated that 185 million gallons of used motor oil is improper disposed of each year in the U.S. -dumped on the ground, tossed in the trash or poured down storm sewers and drains.
"Proper disposal of used motor oil is vital to the environment, so increasing awareness of the Pennzoil Clean Change Campaign during a week when everyone is focused on the environment is very important," said Harvick.
"Clean drinking water is essential to our health, so I'm proud to be teaming up with Pennzoil to promote steps we can all take to help keep our water clean and protect our environment".
The idea behind the Pennzoil Clean Change Campaign is a pledge from those that change their own oil to stay clean by properly recycling their used motor oil.
"We have worked hard to formulate Pennzoil motor oil to help clean up sludge in engines, so taking the next step and helping keep America's drinking water clean by promoting proper used motor oil recycling is a clean means for us to help make a difference," said Troy Chapman marketing team leader for Pennzoil.
