Richard Childress Racing Returns to the Truck Series with Austin Dillon

Austin Dillon will be making his debut in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, Saturday night at Iowa Speedway for the Lucas Oil 200.
He will be driving a No. 3 Chevrolet with the sponsor still being TBA. It's a significant moment for RCR, who haven't fielded an entry in the series since 1999 and nice to see the No. 3 back in Trucks under the RCR banner.
Dillion will have his crew chief from his No. 21 Nationwide Dan Deeringhoff and the rest of the pit crew fielding the truck.
With Dillon being tremendously talented, he's one of several 19-year-olds who are going to College and juggling their racing careers around school.
I had thought we would have seen the then-high schooler last season add some Truck races to his NASCAR Camping World Series east schedule and nothing materialized.
Dillon will need to qualify on speed at Iowa Speedway, the rookie has some racing experience at Iowa and has run four races at the track.
One in the Nationwide, two in the Camping World Series east and a ARCA Re/Max race and just needs to log laps running all 200 laps.
I would love to see RCR with Austin Dillon add more races for him, he's exciting to watch race and from what I've seen of him in the Nationwide he's going to be a good one.
The news reminded me fondly of all the great battles Mike Skinner in the No. 3 Goodwrench Chevrolet and Ron Hornaday Jr. in the No. 16 NAPA Chevrolet had.
Too bad we can't have a retro race with their trucks all decked out with those colors again.
