| Boilermakers look forward in wake of deflating loss WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Curtis Painter stood in a classroom adjacent to Ross-Ade Stadium late Saturday night delivering two key messages.Exercise in futility: Purdue quarterback Curtis Painter calls a play against Ohio State. Try as he might, he didn't lead a touchdown drive against the Buckeyes until the closing seconds of Saturday night's game. The Purdue quarterback said the Boilermakers are capable of putting the disappointment of Saturday's 23-7 loss to Ohio State behind them and will keep in perspective their offensive struggles came against the nation's second-ranked defense. After all, this week the Boilermakers (5-1, 1-1 Big Ten) Travel to Michigan (4-2, 2-0), which has won four in a row after an 0-2 start. For Purdue, the missed opportunity is large, even if it doesn't linger. ABC eschewed Notre Dame-UCLA in favor of making the Purdue-Ohio State game the telecast that went to most of the country. | Re: Boilermakers look forward in wake of deflating loss It was rather disappointing. I've kind of been talking Purdue up, and they laid an egg in their first crack against the big boys. That OSU defense is real good, no doubt, but Painter was pretty much a non-factor for 90% of that game. It was easily his worst performance of the season and it makes me dubious about how well he'll perform going forward against the other top teams in the Big Ten.
