For all of our guests who have not master the bear dialect, the newly formed GTG Translations services kindly offers you this installment of "the bear translation." First off, Oden's agent Mike Conley Sr. and Blazers GM Kevin Prichard have told FOX sports they have not made a decision regarding the pick what so ever, but if they do pick Oden, will they be making the wrong decision? Do you think he's the next Russell, or perhaps the next Shaq? At best, he's the next Ben Wallace. One has to wonder if he even loves to play the game, because if you heard his interview with ESPN, he said he wants to be a dentist. Other players who had NBA type bodies who didn't love the game include, Sam Bowie, Kwame Brown, Michael Olwakandi, and Ben Wallace. Out of these Ben Wallace has had the most success. Therefore, I would think if Portland was smart, they would take Durant. Anyone else agree? (Disclaimer: The opinion expressed here are those of bear9, and any errors in translations should not be construed as the GTG Administrative staff “altering the meaning of the passage.” Any questions in regards to this public service can be addressed by PM, though the queue is long and we can not guarantee an answer in less than 2 weeks time) This concludes this public service of GTG Translations... We now return you to the board for additional posts... | Re: Blazers will pick Greg Oden Durant's the more NBA-ready player, Oden probably has the most upside. Tough call, tough call. Oden's so soft and out of shape right now... he really needs to be paired with a good coach. Portland seems to have a good young core and looks to be building for the future, so this probably is the right pick for them. Hard for me to say either one would be a mistake.

You know, of late I have been thinking that Oden seems a bit soft...but I still would have to gamble on him with the 1st pick. |

| Re: Blazers will pick Greg Oden Quote:
Are you saying that you think that Oden despite his size will "suck" because he does not love the game? The same of which could be said of Brown and Olawakandiwho were some how "force" into the league (btw, please let Hotgirl_94 know that she is off on her spelling of league, I don't have the heart to tell her)... To top things off, Olwakandi not only "sucks" but as gotten into trouble with the law. Thus, logic would dictate that Durant, who possess none of these traits, will be a superstar, while Oden at best will become an average center (or a dentist). Did I understand it correctly? Well, I think you are wrong. Oden showed lots of heart in the National Championship game even when his team was down. He played college hoops which Brown did not, and he played against tougher opponents than Candi. I also doubt he will run into trouble with the law. Though sure, he may become a 7 foot dentist some day. PS Oh, and remember our simple motto my good man, "Do not Hate, Punctuate"... |

I don't know, I just wouldn't take Durant over Oden. I don't care for a guard/forward kid who's very good when I can get a seven footer who can be one of the best at his position in the game. |

| Re: Blazers will pick Greg Oden Quote:
So, are you saying he will be an average center, but that right now you are not sure of the type of dentist he might some day be? Or will he be an average center and an average dentist? By the way, since he is a 7 footer, does that make him an above average dentist, since the average dentist is about 5'11"? ...and are we only comparing Oden to Durant as a player, or are we also looking at what type of dentist will they make? Because I am not following on the whole dentist thing? |
