Portland lands #1 pick in NBA Draft

Amazing. The Portland Trailblazers, with an already great corps of young players, had just a 5.3% chance of landing the #1 overall pick in the lottery. Well guess what? They got it. So do they pick Oden or Durant?

No question about it. They go with the big center in Oden. They're fools if they don't.

With Roy and Oden...playoff material straight off the bat.

It's not even an issue. Franchise centers only come along once every decade or 15 years. The last one was Tim Duncan. If they don't select Oden, they're idiots.

Not only do you have Roy but also Lamarcus Aldridge, throw either of the top 2 in and they are dangerous. But, with Oden, they have the dominate middle others are missing. I think they will talk to Durant but only as a courtesy.

There's no way Portland can pass on Oden. He's figured to be the next dominant center in the league. In the NBA teams with that great center and the help around him always win. San Antonio, Houston (Olajuwon), LA, Miami.

Re: Portland lands #1 pick in NBA Draft

I think it'll be Oden, but I don't think it's as cut and dry as most people seem to think. Durant will be the better player for at least the first 2-3 years. How close are the Blazers to the playoffs? Do they go for the guy who can get them there first, or the guy who can potentially lead them to a handful of titles in a couple of seasons.
