Brandon Roy of the Portland Trailblazers has been named the NBA's Rookie of the Year for 2007.

According to the Associated Press, "Roy received 127 out of a possible 128 first-place votes (638 points) for the award, known as the Eddie Gottlieb Trophy, from a panel of sports writers and broadcasters... The 6-foot-6, 229-pound guard was named the West's Rookie of the Month in January, February and March. He also made the All-Star game's rookie squad. He scored at least 20 points 16 times, including a career-high 29 against Utah on April 4."

No doubt about it. Roy was easily the best rookie in all of pro basketball this past season.

Not only do I believe he deserved to win it, I don't think it was even close. No other rookie could touch what Roy did this year.

Well, let's see. Roy's averaging about five points per game more, and averaging nearly twice as many rebounds and assists per game. Roy has more minutes per game and higher shooting, three-point shooting and free-throw shooting percentages. Morrison just doesn't stack up.
