Overweight Hampton sidelined after failed run test

Pro Bowl NT Casey Hampton showed up at training camp overweight and out of shape. He was placed on the PUP list after failing to complete the Steelers' annual run test.
Same thing happened when Bill Cowher was coach only Kendrell Bell jumped in and ran two springs for him. Hampton recovered enought to make the final run that summer though Cowher was displeased and kept him out of practice till Hampton was in shape.
Hampton has always battle his weight. His ability to stop the run is one of the keys to the Steelers' 3-4 defense.

Hampton skipped the team's voluntary practices because he said he had to take care of personal business.
Will Tomlin keep putting up with this?

Problem is, come opening day, he'll be in the lineup. He has to be. He's too important to the defense.

Wow does he always start camp overweight? Too much on the hamburgers and french fries. As already stated this guy is much too important to be overweight and out of shape right now...

Yeah, pretty much. He knows they won't do anything about it because they don't have anyone to replace him.

Re: Overweight Hampton sidelined after failed run test

Well what else can the Steelers do besides try to help him get in shape. One of the best of their defenders.
