The Pittsburgh Steelers have reached an agreement with one of the more intriguing players in the 2008 draft, quarterback Dennis Dixon of Oregon.
Per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the fifth-rounder gets a three-year deal, which includes a $130,000 signing bonus.
Dixon is recovering from a torn ACL that derailed his quest for a potential Heisman Trophy, and his team’s search for a national championship. Though some might regard Dixon as another Slash-style option in Pittsburgh, Dixon had impressive passing numbers last year before his injury, completing 67.7 percent of his passes for 8.4 yards per attempt, 20 touchdowns, and only four interceptions.

Yeah, I think so. He's an incredible athlete, and has definite playmaker potential. I can't wait to watch his development this fall.

What was his injury last year? I heard something like a knee injury. Any word on how long his type of injury takes to heal? Will he be well enough to see some flashes this season? I just have a lot of questions about this guy I guess...I hope it works out!

Whoops, that's right. I think it was a torn ACL, which means we may not see him much if at all this fall. Guess that slipped my mind.

He tore his ACL in mid-November. If the average injury takes 6-9 months to heal then we could see him this fall, as early as pre-season. That would be great! So you actually are right, I'm excited to see what he can do this fall!
