Big Ben Gets 8 Year Contract Worth Upwards Of $102 Million

Yep, 26 year old quarterback Ben Roethlisberger signed an 8 year contract today with the Pittsburgh Steelers worth $102 million and at least $36 million guaranteed making him one of the NFL highest paid players. Big Ben said that he wanted to be like Elway and Marino to spend his entire career with one team. Good attitude but i'm sure all those $$$ didn't hurt, not that I blame him for a second! Just stay off the motorcycle Ben, or at least wear a helmet!!!

That's a big investment for a guy who, quite frankly, hasn't proven he's an elite NFL quarterback. Sure hope the Steelers know what they're doing.

Big Ben is not Peyton Manning or Tom Brady but he does fit the Steelers offense perfectly and did have a great numbers last year to entice the Steelers even more. Frankly I think they would have been insane not to resign Roethlisberger. It didn't come cheap but yes I think the Steeler brass made a good move.

There are only two elite QBs. Than there is a very good second teir. Big Ben is in that second teir and is and will be a good QB for years to come.

About time. I think Ben is up there with Manning and Brady. He's the real deal.

I hate to disagree but on a scale from 1 to 10, Manning and Brady are 11s, everyone else is eighth or lower

Not a Madden stat just the truth. There are two elites then a very strong second teir of guys like Bing Ben and Farve.

I'd be an awesome passer if all I did was sit in the pocket and make 5 yard passes. Manning is IMO way ahead of Brady.

Oh yea. And Ben is the my Boy. Great QB rating, and gave us a pretty good regular season. Looking forward to many more great seasons.

You know what, maybe I'm being too hard on the guy. I went to go check out his stats to show why he isn't among the really good NFL QBs, and I see a career completion percentage of 63% (not bad), 84 TDs to 54 INTs and a passer rating of 98 in three of four seasons (and he was ranked Top 5 in that category each time, and is fourth among all active QBs in his career, according to Pro Footbal Reference.com). That's a lot better than I thought.

Thats true. A lot of them are quick slant passes. Not the hardest throw in the world
