Pittsburg Steelers Santonio Holmes

The Steelers traded up to #25 and took the best WR available in the draft. A surprising pick, but an excellent one nonetheless. Great addition to an offense that has struggled at times, despite winning the Super Bowl.

Re: Pittsburg Steelers Santonio Holmes

I am still bewildered why such an athlete with his kind of potential was picked so late in the Draft.

At least Pittsburgh knows they are walking home with the best selection possible.

Holmes should be able to step in and replace El without any trouble at all. This was a great pick for the Steelers!

Re: Pittsburg Steelers Santonio Holmes

Most teams turned against him because they felt he was small. But does size matter in the NFL?

Re: Pittsburg Steelers Santonio Holmes

It was generally graded as a pretty poor WR draft, but Holmes was almost universally rated as the best of the bunch. He's a good player who fills a need for the Steelers, and he will likely have the chance to start immediately. Think about that... how many rookies have the opportunity to become instant starters on the defending Super Bowl champions?

Re: Pittsburg Steelers Santonio Holmes

Looks like Holmes is going to miss minicamp.

According to Rotowire.com: "Holmes will miss most of Pittsburgh's minicamp in May because of an NCAA agreement with the NFL that prohibits players from participating in team drills until they graduate. Ohio State's graduation doesn't take place until mid-June, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports."

How badly will it hurt him not getting an early start on learning the Steeler playbook and such?
