Big Ben vs. Bill Cowher

Looks like Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger and former head coach Bill Cowher didn't exactly have the best relationship in the world. As Big Ben told Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette yesterday, "Our relationship wasn't great because he was here before I got here and I was just a young kid." And apparently, things got worse after the motorcycle wreck. So what does everyone make of this?

I don't care if any of the players on my team likes each other. They just have to work together.

Well, still... remember Elway and Reeves eventually blew up where they couldn't work together anymore. Part of me wonders if Big Ben didn't have at least a little bit of a say in whether or not Cowher would be back. I know he publically said he wanted a coach who would call more passing plays.

Your dating comment, GDK... brings back thoughts of those old rumors about Cowher and Kordell having a thing. Remember those?

Well, not sure if it ever made it nationally, but there were a few times they were caught in intimate situations on the sidelines. Around the Pittsburgh area (and it even made it to here in eastern Ohio) the rumor was that the two were having an affair. I don't buy it and I don't think most people did either, but it definitely had legs for a while. Just one of those National Enquirer tabloid-style rumors.

Re: Big Ben vs. Bill Cowher

Lets face it Cowher became an egomaniac, Ben wants to be a hero in the worst way. In both cases it hurts the team. Cowher needed to leave to take time off and then start over. I see him in Cleveland in 3 years. Ben bothers me more. Trying to be a hero is not how a QB wins Super Bowls. He needs to let the game come to him. Ask Tom Brady.
