| Deshea Townsend Re-Signs.. PITTSBURGH (AP) -- The Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday re-signed cornerback Deshea Townsend, giving him a four-year contract.
Townsend, 30, has played eight seasons for the Steelers, who drafted him in the fourth round out of Alabama in 1998.
Townsend visited Thursday with the New England Patriots, who had released veteran Tyrone Poole rather than pay him a $500,000 bonus. Townsend has started the past season-and-a-half at cornerback for the Steelers and has 13.5 sacks and 14 interceptions for his career. He was the last unrestricted free-agent starter the Steelers needed to sign.
