Steelers cut Joey Porter

ESPN is reporting that the Steelers either have or will cut LB Joey Porter, along with FB Verron Haynes. Haynes, I can see, but Porter? Wow, that's a shock! What do you guys think about this surprising move?

I'll tell ya what, Gotham... Steelers came out and said they plan to resign him for less money. Morons. One, a player of his talent will be very much in demand, and two, a player of his demenor won't resign with a team that cut him. It'd hurt his pride, his ego. I look for Porter to sign with someone that plays the Steelers often, and then take it out on them every chance he gets. He seems like that kind of guy.

I would love to see him go to the Browns. I think they have a lot of cap room. Can they go after Thomas and Porter? That would give them one heck of a defense.

Cool Re: Steelers cut Joey Porter

Porter must be salary cap related? Otherwise, it doesn't make sense.

You know you are right...Porter is not gonna play for less for a team that cut him...no way no how...I think he rather play in the CFL...

Porters a team leader in the locker room and on the field plus he backs up his mouth with some big time plays. HUGE mistake for the Steelers! Can the Jets sign him? Any team with a linebacker need should be interested in Joey Porter.

Local paper today ran a piece where he said he had no ill will towards the Steelers, that he liked the team and wished them the best of luck. The GM also said he expected Porter to receive a lot of interest from other teams in a hurry -- a sign that Pittsburgh obviously has no intention of even trying to resign the man. It's a shame, but I guess this is today's NFL.

Which begs the question, how many other less talented guys did they discuss keeping over Porter?...dumb...totally dumb...
