Steelers Free Agents

Here's the current list of 2006 Pittsburgh Steeler free agents.

Unrestricted
------------
Charlie Batch, qb
Barrett Brooks, t
Verron Haynes, fb
Chris Hope, s
Brett Keisel, de
Clint Kriewaldt, lb
Quincy Morgan, wr
Antwaan Randle El, wr
Deshea Townsend, cb
Jerame Tuman, te
Kimo von Oelhoffen, de

Restricted
----------
Sean Morey, wr
Ike Taylor, cb

Looks like Randle El's all but gone, and maybe Chris Hope too.

Can they resign some of these other guys, like Batch, Morgan, Haynes and Kimo?

Re: Steelers Free Agents

Well, I would have to imagine that they are going to work hard to resign Batch. If they don't, they will be without a backup quarterback.

The other guy I would like to see them keep is Kimo. He does a great job anchoring the D Line, and he is a class guy at the same time.

Re: Steelers Free Agents

I see Randle El as the sacrificial lamb that will enable us to sign most of the others.

Who's the priority here? If you take Randle El out of the equation, seeing has he's probably gone, then Hope has clearly got to be your No. 1 guy, followed by Batch (need that veteran backup). Then Kimo and Ike Taylor, perhaps? And afterwards Haynes, Morgan and Townsend? How would you guys rate them?

I would say DesheaTownsend and Barrett Brooks are gone for sure. They can replace those guys.

Re: Steelers Free Agents

Personnaly, I would not mind seeing Hope go. He can be easily replaced in my opinion. Perhaps the Steelers will look for a safety in the early rounds of the draft?

Re: Steelers Free Agents

WVU,

Chris Hope made an awful lot of tackles for the Steelers. Are you sure that you want him gone. We have more depth at corner than safety.

Re: Steelers Free Agents

I have a mental block that is telling me Hope is expendable. He made a lot of those tackles after getting caught out of position. But he may be the best the Steelers have at this time, and they did win the Super Bowl with him.
