Pittsburgh Steelers - SD Chargers game

The Steelers may be the defending Super Bowl champions, but they have failed to impress so far this season. Fresh off their bye week, can Big Ben, Willie Parker and the Blitzburgh defense rebound against the always-tough San Diego Chargers? Will they be able to shut down LT?

What do you think? Share your thoughts here, and then head over to the other Chargers vs. Steelers game thread, located in home team's forum, to find out how you could win free football tickets just for correctly predicting the outcome of the Pittsburgh - San Diego game!

Yep, afraid so. I've been saying around here since the preseason that the Steelers were overrated, and sure enough, this is one I actually got right.

Add in Ben's shaky play during the Super Bowl (a sign of things to come?) and shakier offseason, and I think you have a team that could well be shut out of the postseason.
That comes from the http://www.goteamsgo.com/forum/pitts...s-go-back.html thread.

Now, to be honest, they're even worse than I expected. Ben has completely fallen apart, and that team really needs to make a change at QB and bring in Batch. Maybe, just maybe, he would be able to spark something.

It's really not Ben that has fallen apart, it's just that now all the other teams know how the Steelers play and adjusting to it. Ben didn't win that Super bowl, the Steelers as a team did.

I am not so sure...he has been picked off with regularity, and can't find the end zone...Why are we cutting him a break?...If his name was Daunte he would be sitting on his butt by now...

Well, with a slight tweak to your statement, Sweets, I'll agree with you: "It's really not JUST Ben that has fallen apart." He is playing subpar football right now, but that offensive line isn't good either and the running backs either don't have holes to run through, or they just can't find them. The hole offense is struggling; I'm just thinking that bringing in Batch might act as a catalyst for them. What do they got to lose at this point?

Batch is the answer to an 8-8 record at best...I would stick with the struggling Ben...

It's really hard to come back as the Super Bowl Champion and expect to repeat...unless of course you're a Patriot and in earlier years, the 49ers, Broncos, Packers, Dolphins and Steelers of the 70, and the Cowboys...

Pittsburgh is 1-3 right now. If they stick with Ben, they don't even see 8-8. If Batch can get them to .500, they need to play him.
