| Re: Are the Pirates improving? Well, I guess the Pittsburgh Pirates did have nowhere to go but up, but we've been playing pretty good ball since the All-Star break. The Buccos won another series yesterday, by beating the Milwaukee Brewers 8-4. And it wasn't just THAT they won, it was HOW they won. As this article says, "manager Jim Tracy was encouraged to see his team do some of the little things they didn't accomplish in a dismal first half of the season... Like bringing runners home with two outs, as Pittsburgh did in a three-run, fifth-inning rally against Brewers All-Star Chris Capuano." So might this team be able to claw and scratch its way back to respectability before the year's over?

| Re: Are the Pirates improving? Here is a quote from Jason Bay, which was displayed in the Fantasy Football '06 issue of Sports Illustrated. "The only way we're going to improve is if we actually go out and get better." Haven't the Pirates heard of a familiar phrase which goes, "practice makes perfect"? |
