I might wind up liking the recent Pirates trades after all.

Jeff Karstens, who came over from the Yankees in the Nady deal, tossed six shutout innings in a 3-0 win over the Cubs yesterday. Andy LaRoche, acquired as part of the deal that send Jason Bay to Boston, had a single and scored a run, and Bradon Moss, also part of the Bay trade, turned one of four Pirates double plays, according to the morning paper. And guess what? The win moved Pittsburgh out of last place!

Trust me... I'm realize that. But hey, got to find the positives where I can. Heck, I'll be happy if they're just not dead last at season's end.

The Bay trade was sad because Bay is gone after some great years but that trade seems good for us. I'm still not sure about the Yankee trade we got some good prospects but we give away Nady and Marte to the Yankees letting the Vader of the Major League get that much better.
