So after losing to the Washington Nationals on Thursday, the Pittsburgh Pirates came back and won big yesterday, 11-4. Bautista had a pair of home runs, Bay and McLouth both had doubles, and the bullpen managed five innings of shutout baseball, led by Marte, who earned the victory. The Bucs are now 12-17 on the season, six games out of first place but 1/2 a game up on the Cincinnati Reds.

Tough loss for the Buccos last night again.

According to the AP, "Cristian Guzman... matched a career high with six RBIs, including a tiebreaking three-run double in the sixth inning, and the Washington Nationals held off the Pittsburgh Pirates 9-8 on Saturday." On the plus side, Jose Bautista had a dinger and drove in three runs. He's got three homers and seven RBIs in the last two games.

This year is the exact opposite of previous Pirate season. They are hitting and have a decent bullpen, but their rotation is letting them down. I hope they get their arms together. They will be exciting if they can make a run.

On a side note. What did they do to Nady that he is still playing well. He usually starts off hot then disappears. It is May and he is still hitting.
