Pirates Hit New Low Check out the article from the PGH Post Gazette today. This is a day after the Bucs loss to the Marlins to give them the worst record in the NL... http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06135/690232-63.stm

Re: Pirates Hit New Low We all know the Pirates won't be included in this year's playoff picture. They actually had some good players back in the day. It is too bad that they got rid of Brian Giles, Aramis Ramirez and Kris Benson.

Re: Pirates Hit New Low Its almost to the point where I can't stand reading about the Buccos anymore, and I sure as hell can't stomach watching them half the time. They are horrible. The pitchers and the managers bear the most blame. The guys on the mound are the ones giving up eight runs to Florida, while Tracy isn't making any moves to help the struggling lineup. I knew firing Lloyd was a mistake...

Re: Pirates Hit New Low Wow... three quick ways to rebuilt the Pirates? That's like trying to use duct tape to prevent Chernobyl. The truth is the Bucs need completely blown up, from the front office on down, and only a few guys (Bay, the Wilsons, Duke, Torres come to mind; there may be others) would survive. But I digress. I'll play your game. Step #1 would have to be to fire Jim Tracy and David Littlefield; replace Littlefield with a Billy Beane alum. We need some Moneyball in Pittsburgh. Give us the cheapest over .500 team possible, at least for the time being. Tracy's replacement. Hmm... we'd need a guy in the mold of Cleveland's Eric Wedge, I think. A promising minor league skipper who can come in and mold young players.

Re: Pirates Hit New Low I don't think Tracy is the answer just yet. Do you guys think he could win if he was the coach of the Yankees? At the same time I do think that some blame rests on him, and he needs to take a strong look at himself and his staff...

Re: Pirates Hit New Low Well, after thinking it over, I'd probably have to begrudgingly part with Craig Wilson. I like Craig, but he has value, and we need to look ahead here. Oliver Perez should go; he needs to start over somewhere else, and with luck we could get some prospects for him. Keep Casey, jettison Burnitz (provided he has any trade value whatsoever). That's my guess, but that's why I'd want one of those SABR guys coming in. I'm not usually a big fan of sabrmetrics, but in Pittsburgh, they have limited funds and they need to field a competitive team yesterday to try and keep/lure back the fan base, most of whom like me are already rolling their eyes and thinking, "Here we go again..."
