Re: Official 'Pirates Stink' Thread Yea, this year is different; it is worse than usual. I was surprised to hear Tracy say that he is sticking with Perez. He is not a number one, and at this rate he is not even a number 5...

Re: Official 'Pirates Stink' Thread Decided it was time to bring this back after the Pirates BLEW A 4-0 LEAD AGAINST THE KANSAS CITY ROYALS yesterday! And get this - it was the SECOND STRAIGHT GAME in which they had done! They've now lost seven straight games and are just 1-7 against the American League. Wow, maybe we really ARE the worst team in baseball...

Re: The Official 'Pirates Stink' Thread I'll tell ya, Kasey fan, it's been painful. We're 30-60 at the All-Star break, 3-7 in our last 10 and no sign of anything getting better anytime soon. A lot of the blame for this has to fall on Dave Littlefield for some poor signings. There was no need to sign both Burnitz and Casey when you already had Craig Wilson, and as poorly as Burnitz has been playing, oh how I wish they would've passed on him. And while I was in favor of the Randa signing, I had no idea what Sanchez could do. Littlefield HAD to know he had this prospect waiting in the wings, so why sign a high-priced veteran when you had a future All-Star ready to go? Of course, would this team be playing better if Lloyd was still manager? I wonder...

Re: The Official 'Pirates Stink' Thread Ownership always claims they have no money but they never say how they spend the money they get from the larger payroll teams like the Yanks, Red Sox, Mets and Dodgers. Terrible ownership and terrible front offices = poor on-field play. Sad too because Pittsburgh (at least use to be) is a great baseball team, when the Pirates don't fool with the fans intelligence.

Re: The Official 'Pirates Stink' Thread They are spending the money - Casey and Randa got big deals, Craig Wilson makes over $3 million a year, and we're paying Burnitz in excess of $6 million this season. It's just, well, we've spent the money stupidly and aren't getting a return on our investment. Jack Wilson got a new deal before the start of the season, too. But they really have done little to upgrade the pitching.

Re: The Official 'Pirates Stink' Thread Time to bring this thread out of retirement for a little "Pirates Stink 2007 Edition" Let's see. 52-70 record? Check. Worst team in the National League? Check. Fourth worst team ERA in baseball? Check. Sixth worst batting average in the NL? Check. Hitting .262 with RISP? Check. Add to that our big trade deadline acquisition, a $9 million dollar pitcher with a 6.87 ERA, and the fact that we have a lame duck running the front office and you have a recipe for total, complete, soul-crushing failure! Way to go guys!
