The Tigers and Pittsburgh Pirates discussed Detroit third baseman Brandon Inge over the last several days, but it's not clear if the sides have made any progress toward a deal. Inge lost his job as the Tigers' starting third baseman following the acquisition of Miguel Cabrera last week. He has informed Detroit officials that he would rather become another team's starting third baseman than accept a reserve role with the Tigers. -- Detroit Free Press

He should rethink this. He has the chance to be on a contending team and a possibe world series. He would get a lot of playing time since players never play everyday anymore...even DH.

I understand hs reasoning behind this, he wont get any playing time with cabrera at 3b, If im the pirates I do this trade, I like inge, solid defensively and has pop in his bat..

Geez, Pittsburgh has a crowded infield as is. Unless we deal someone from those positions to get Inge, I don't see the point.

You're right, they don't need Inge. Unless they move someone else.
