Well, it's little more than a footnote with all the excitement of the playoff races going on in the NL, but the Pittsburgh Pirates ended the 2007 season with a 6-5 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals today. As the Associated Press points out, "The Pirates dropped their final four and 13 of their final 15 to go 68-94, only a one-game improvement over their 67-95 records of 2005 and 2006." Jim Tracy's future is in doubt, and there might be another fire sale. So one more time we go down not with a bang, but a whimper.
