Pittsburgh vs. Seattle

Man, how I wish the Pittsburgh Pirates could keep playing the American League!

The Bucs earned another victory yesterday, beating the Seattle Mariners 5-3. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, "Tom Gorzelanny went seven strong innings to improve to 7-4, Freddy Sanchez and Jason Bay each had two hits, and a five-man bullpen effort was finished off in sterling fashion by Shawn Chacon striking out Jose Guillen and Raul Ibanez for his first save in three years."

Today's game will pit LHP Paul Maholm 3-9, 5.00 against RHP Jeff Weaver 0-6, 10.97 and is scheduled for a 10:05 start.

Re: Pittsburgh vs. Seattle

Ouch. Jeff Weaver shut us out to pick up his first win of the season, 7-0. The four hitter snapped Seattle's six-game losing streak.

Re: Pittsburgh vs. Seattle

And things go from bad to worse as we're shut out AGAIN last night, 3-0. According to the AP, "The Pirates were shut out for the second straight game and the eighth time this season, most in the major leagues. They haven't scored in 20 innings." Hey, but to make up for it, we've got the second-worst OBP in the NL and only one other team has fewer hits than the Bucs. In short, we stink.
