Bucs and Brewers

The Brewers are ahead of the Pirates in their rebuilding process but today's game with Oliver Perez is significant for the Bucs. Oliver really needs to step forward and give the Pirates a boost. The Pirates need a good April. Nothing below .500 would be a good start for the month of April.

Re: Bucs and Brewers...

It is the 8th inning now and the Bucs are down 5-2. Perez was strong, giving up only one run. He also had an RBI.

But like usual they cannot hold onto a lead...

Thanks for the update, wvu. I lost control of the TV once school let out, but for some reason, I'm kind of glad I'm not watching right now. But hey, maybe we can come back, right? Everyone put on your rally caps!

Re: Bucs and Brewers...

Solomon Torres was the difference today. He walked the first two batters in a tight game and could not field a ground ball. Perez was terrific and that is a very positive sign.

Torres was horrid! It is a shame that they could not pull out this win.

Re: Bucs and Brewers...

"Tracy said he took Perez out of the game because he had thrown 95 pitches and did not want his left-hander to have a chance to be saddled with a loss." - AP Sports Writer Chris Jenkins.

Stupid pitch counts.

Oh, well. Santos vs. Capuano tomorrow and Duke vs. Ohka on Wednesday.

Hopefully things will work out better for the Buccos during the rest of the series.

Re: Bucs and Brewers...

Okay, change of plans. Let's just hope we can avoid the sweep after yesterday's 7-5 loss. If only Turnbow hadn't caught that Sanchez liner, it might've been a different story. I sure was hoping for a better start than 0-2, but its still a long season. No reason to panic yet, right? At least we got 10 hits, including home runs from Casey and Burnitz. Of course, our pitchers allowed 16 of them, too... that's no good. Vogelsong was lousy.

Three games, three losses by the pen. Last night it was Marte and Hernandez blowing a nice showing by Zach Duke, who went six innings, K'ed 4 and allowed just 1 earned run. Not to mention two quick, costly errors to start the season by Jack Wilson (making me look bad for singing his praises earlier). What's up with this team, guys?

Haha..Lefty, was that you with the Golden Glove talk for Wilson a month back? Thats okay, I was on the same boat.

What ever happened to the bullpen being a strong point? Are they just off to a bad start?

All questions I wish I (or at least Jim Tracy) had the answers to right now.

Re: Bucs and Brewers...

Good point!

I think they are just off to a rough start. But they need to get everything on track before they start to slide any further...
