| Best Pirates of all time Okay, so with so many "Best of" lists popping up, how about some love for my Bucs? The Pirates have had a ton of great players throughout the years - Roberto Clemente, Honus Wagner, Pops Stargell, Elroy Face and Barry Bonds, just to name a few. So who gets your vote as best ever?

| Re: Best Pirates of all time Clemente is the best Pirate ever. He also hit safely in all 14 World Series games he played in and was, to a lesser extent to Latin players what Robinson was to African-Americans. Wagner second and Pie Traynor third. |

| Re: Best Pirates of all time Ah, vince, I love the mention of Maz. Definitely the most underrated player in Pirates history. Probably the best defensive second baseman of all time - career .983 fielding percentage and led the NL in assists nine times. Worthwhile Hall of Famer, despite the knocks on his hitting. Clemente was better, but I love seeing Maz getting thrown into the discussion because he's a personal favorite. I actually met him - he was signing autographs several years ago when a new Krogers opened at our town. He's a local guy, too, having been born in Wheeling, West Virginia (about an hour from where I live) and owning a golf course in Tiltonsville, Ohio until recently. |

He was definitely the leader of the We Are Family Pirates, so that contribution has to be considered as well as his career stats. |
