| Re: Bucs vs Yankees Darn it, I missed the game, but it does sound like it was a real barnburner. To quote the Associated Press, " Derek Jeter hit a game-winning infield single in the 10th inning as the New York Yankees overcame a defensive blunder to beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-4 Friday night and extend a winning streak to four for the first time this season... Robinson Cano doubled to left-center leading off the 10th against Matt Capps (3-3) and Cabrera sacrificed him to third. Miguel Cairo followed with a bouncer to third baseman Jose Bautista, who looked back at Cano, then didn't throw to first as Cairo reached on the single." I'm optimistic about tomorrow, though. We're facing the Rocket. Single and Double A teams were giving him fits, and we're almost that good!

| Re: Bucs vs Yankees LaRoche is spotty at best... Bay's the big guy. He leads the team in average (.301), home runs (11), RBI (45) and runs (37). Nady's been pretty good, but Sanchez and LaRoche have been disappointing. Our pitching really isn't as bad as it looks. It's like you said, the hitting. We're tied for the 6th worst batting average in baseball, our 249 runs are 7th worst in baseball and our on-base percentage is the worst in the National League. |

| The Pirates sort of looked too much in awe of the Yanks, this series. A lot of the pitchers, like Chacon, pitched scared. I think in the scheme of things, this series will serve the Pirates well. Going into a full house at Yankee Stadium for 3 games must be very tough for a young team. |
