| Pirates vs. Dodgers Yeah, looks like I got behind on this series, as the Pirates and the Dodgers will meet for the final game of a four-game set today at 7:05 EDT. L.A. won the first game, 5-4, and the two teams split Games 2 & 3, with the Bucs winning 3-1 on Saturday and the Dodgers coming back to win 5-4 yesterday.
We need a win today to split the series, but it doesn't look promising. According to the Associated Press, "Out of eight home series this season, Pittsburgh (24-32) has won only one - a three-game sweep of Houston from April 24-26 - lost six, and split one while compiling an 11-18 record at PNC Park... The frustration at home could continue for the Pirates if their history against [Dodgers pitcher Derek] Lowe (5-5, 3.32 ERA) is any indication. The right-handed sinkerballer is 4-0 with a 2.52 ERA in four career starts against Pittsburgh, three of them at PNC Park."
The Bucs counter Lowe with 2-7 Paul Maholm, he of the 5.35 ERA. |
