The Pirates and Cubs have split the first two games of their latest series.

Pittsburgh took Game 1 4-3 in 15 innings. According to the Associated Press, "Jack Wilson... went 0-for-6 with an error Tuesday night, but his first sacrifice fly in the ninth inning tied the game and his second came with the bases loaded in the 15th."

Chicago came back to win the second game, 1-0, thanks to an outstanding performance by pitcher Jason Marquis. Once again according to the AP, "Marquis' second career shutout and fourth complete game could not have come at a better time for the Cubs, whose bullpen was spent following a 15-inning loss to the Pirates on Tuesday night... Marquis (5-1), who signed with Chicago after he was left off the roster by the St. Louis Cardinals for the final two rounds of the playoffs last fall, retired the first 16 batters he faced Wednesday night."

The rubber game is scheduled for this afternoon at 2:20 pm EDT.

I think that he's performed better than any of the batters in the MLB.

Perhaps a few other batters as contenders, but he is by far superior.

Well, before this turns into too much of a Cubs love-fest here, let me chime in and mention that the Bucs just beat Chicago, 6-4, to take 2 of the 3 games in the series. Jason Bay went 2-for-4 with a homer and 3 RBI, Malholm got the win and Torres picked up his 11th save of the season. Ha ha, so take that, Cubs fans!

Ease up Lefty! This is Cubs land man!!!! JK! If Marquis keeps up at this pace, every person that said it was another pickup of an average player by the Cubs is going to feel real stupid.
