Bucs Cubs series

Well, after having their winning streak snapped and losing back to back games to the Red Sox, the Bucs will host a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs starting tonight at 7:05 EDT. Chicago (10-13) sends Rich Hill (3-1, 1.57 ERA) to the mound, and the Bucs will counter with Zach Duke (1-2, 6.92). According to the AP, "The Pirates won nine of 15 matchups from the Cubs last year, including a 4-2 home record. Pittsburgh can avoid its fifth consecutive losing April with a win on Monday."

Rich Hill has been amazing thus far through the season.

Hope you didn't bet cash money on that, Marc!

According to the Associated Press, " Jason Bay's 100th home run for the Pirates was one of his shortest, barely nudging itself over the right-field wall. Regardless of the length, it illustrated how one of the NL's most consistent hitters is trying to get even better... Bay hit a two-out homer in the eighth, an inning after Pittsburgh tied it on Ronny Paulino's double, and the Pirates came back from a two-run deficit to beat the Chicago Cubs 3-2 Monday night."

Good news - the Bucs finished April 12-12, the first time we didn't have a losing record during the opening month of the season since 2002. Go Bucs!

Re: Bucs Cubs series

Cubs lead yesterday's game, 6-5, in the 8th 8 inning. According to the AP, "After a delay of 2 hours, 18 minutes, the game was suspended with the Pirates about to bat in the seventh. It will be finished at 12:35 p.m. EDT on Wednesday before the teams play their regularly scheduled game... While the game lasted longer than the required five innings to be official, it was suspended because the Pirates had not yet batted in the seventh. Baseball's suspension rules were changed during the offseason to pick up play at the point where a game was stopped, rather than going back to the last completed inning -- in this case, the sixth, with the Pirates up 5-2."

Not really... I don't mind the rule change (even though under the old rules we'd still have the lead). We're doing better this season than he have in past years, and I know that we're going to lose a few here and there. And besides, the game ain't over yet, cwstech!

Re: Bucs Cubs series

Trust me, as a Cubs fan I realize this. We have blown so many leads in the final innings this year.
