| Pirates P Paul Maholm Paul Maholm threw his first career complete game, facing just 29 batters and allowing only three singles in Pittsburgh's 3-0 win over the Astros yesterday. It was Maholm's first win since last September 15, and afterwards he told reporters, "If I throw out the one walk, everything was pretty perfect... I threw hardly any balls that were hit in the air, and for a sinkerball pitcher that's got to be the thing to do." Maholm's now 12-13 on his career, and hopefully he's turned a corner with this most recent performance. I have the feeling he's going to be something special. |
