The Pittsburgh Pirates open the 2007 MLB season on the road, April 2, against the Houston Astros. After a three-game set there, the team heads to Cincy for three games against the Reds, April 6-8. Their home opener is on April 9, when the St. Louis Cardinals come to PNC Park. Additional series against these three teams, as well as three-game sets with the Dodgers, Brewers and Giants, are also on tap for the month.

That's a tough schedule to open the season with, games against St. Louis, The Dodgers, Brewers and Giants.

Yeah, kind of looks like it. At least last season I came in optimistic... but I think talent wise we're worse off to start this season than we were in 2006. They're playing around with Sanchez's position, we've already got some issues in the pitching staff, and LaRoche is pretty much the only new acquisition we've got. I'm just hoping we don't finish in the cellar, and that maybe, just maybe, we can get to .500.
