| Sanchez wants $3.1 million NL batting champ Freddy Sanchez has asked the Pittsburgh Pirates to up his salary from $342,000 to $3.1 million. The Bucs have offered Sanchez, who hit .344 last season, a $2.15 million deal. Should they pony up the extra million for this kid based on one good season? I'm not convinced.

| Re: Sanchez wants $3.1 million Yeah. He's always been consistent. He was only given the chance to start last season (hell, it even took him a couple months to get the starting position). Give it to him. |

| Re: Sanchez wants $3.1 million I like the kid, and I see a lot of upside. But that's a rather large payhike. Shouldn't we make sure he's not just a one-season wonder in the big leagues first? I guess in today's MLB talent eval. isn't a luxury you can afford. |
