| The Jim Tracy Era Begins Tracy has come to the Pirates at the most opportune time. The franchise has bottomed out with all of the bad contracts. There is a young core of players with talent to build with and there is more money than ever before available to Dave Littlefield. This is a golden opportunity for Tracy to become a nationally known figure for ressurecting a team out of the scrap heap. The truth of the matter is that Lloyd McClendon(no matter what you think of his managing ability) had to manage through some of the most painful years in the Pirate history. I don't know how this season is going to go but it has a chance to be something special. BBB |

| Re: The Jim Tracy Era Begins lefty, Wins and losses are always the bottom line but this team after 2006 will have some revenue to either sign existing players or go after some new ones. Burnitz, Casey, and Randa are about 18 million that might be available along with revenue sharing which has produced about 10 million or better. I see the Bucs in their best financial condition in many many years. BBB |

Despite his exit from the Dodgers, he did a fine job. |

| Re: The Jim Tracy Era Begins I am confident that Tracy knows what he is doing. I loved what he said when he got the job. It was something to the effect of you have to take small steps in order to reach your overall goal. In other words he wants to first get to .500, and then take the division, and so on. This is a great way of thinking, especially when trying to build a team like the Pirates. |
