Conference Finals: Pens vs. Flyers

Evgeni Malkin scored two goals as the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Philadelphia Flyers, 4-2, yesterday. As the Associated Press put it, Malkin was going "his best Mario Lemieux impression... Malkin, who is only 21 but is the leading scorer in the playoffs with 17 points following a three-point night, scored with 6.5 seconds left in the first period with a tired Flyers line on the ice to put Pittsburgh up 3-2."

Re: Conference Finals: Pens vs. Flyers

Okay, the Pens won the two in Pittsburgh. Now we need to go to Philly and win at least one of the next two.
Great game yesterday. Fluery was strong in net, and not only does Talbot come back, he winds up scoring the game winning goal. Ha!

Re: Conference Finals: Pens vs. Flyers

Yeah once again i thought that we have heard so much about Biron, Turco and osgood - why not Fleury?
he was great last night.
Penguins were very much in charge.
It'll be loud in Philly.
I wonder - how come the crowd in Pittsburgh wears white? In calgary and Philly, they wear bright orange, in Detroit red - why not wear the one recognizable colour from your team instead of white?

Re: Conference Finals: Pens vs. Flyers

Hmm... can't say I ever thought about it much.
Most Penguins clothing is either black or white (some yellow). Not sure why they opt for the white over the black.

Re: Conference Finals: Pens vs. Flyers

I'd go for the yellow.
I heard, a while back, that yellow is one of the most recognizable colours to the eye. This was in regards to Fleury's pads - remember he used to wear bright yellow pads? This person was saying how that gave an advantage to the incoming skater - he could see his yellow pads quicker than if they were another colour. She wrote to Fleury and now his pads are black - I wonder if she was the influence for the change?
She needs to pass the message on to Tim Thomas now.

So I think it's safe to say it'll be a Wings/Pens final.

Re: Conference Finals: Pens vs. Flyers

Pens and Wings are red hot, should be an awesome series, I don't think the Pens will sweep the Flyers but they will certainly win this series. The difference between 3-0 and 2-0 is huge.

Re: Conference Finals: Pens vs. Flyers

Yep. The Flyers just can't get it done against the Pens.

I'm disappointed, but proud of the season the Flyers had.

I would love to have seen all of these games played with a healthy defense, but it is what it is.

I should be happy with the season, but it's still disappointing to have the season about to end on such a down note.

I'll be turning my attention to baseball when the Flyers are done.

Yep, I do believe it's looking that way.

I'm excited. This team was almost bankrupt a few years ago. They were all but gone from Pittsburgh. Now they're not only back in the playoffs but on the verge of playing for the Cup again. Quite a story. And maybe I'm crazy, but I think we've got the talent to hang with the Red Wings.

Re: Conference Finals: Pens vs. Flyers

I agree. Please someone give Detroit a run.
These 3-0 series are a drag. I think this may be a sweep too. i hope so, since detroit's going to sweep dallas and then get a rest - don't give the Red Wings any advantage

Re: Conference Finals: Pens vs. Flyers

Well, the Flyers won last night to avoid the sweep. They got three goals in the first period - best hockey I've seen them play all series.
It's a bummer the Pens won't get the sweep, but hey, at least now they can finish up the series in the Burgh.

Re: Conference Finals: Pens vs. Flyers

I didn't get to see the game, and I'm glad!

Congrats on a dominating performance to just take the heart out of the Flyers.

I'm still pretty proud of my team, but not in this series.

Gotta say the best team won, though. Best of luck in the finals Pens fan!

Yeah, we pretty much dominated. I hope the Stars batter the crap out of Detroit.
