The Russians have filed a lawsuit to try and keep Evgeni Malkin of the Penguins from playing in the NHL.

NEW YORK (AP) -- A Russian hockey club filed an antitrust lawsuit Thursday against the NHL and the Pittsburgh Penguins, saying rookie Evgeni Malkin shouldn't be allowed to play in the league because he remains under contract in his native country.

The Metallurg Magnitogorsk hockey club, which filed the lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Manhattan, also demanded unspecified damages from the NHL and the Penguins over Malkin's deal to jump teams this summer.

So does anyone think the Metallurg Magnitogorsk have a case here?

Nope!...you do that and you open up a big can of worms...no judge is going to go there...Malkin however scored his first goal the other day...I like him on a team with Crosby.

And didn't Super Mario just sell the Penguins?

I think they are suing because it is what they should do, or feel they should do. there will be no progress with it - the NHL seems to be virtually ignoring it.

Maybe they should have a "rogue Russian terrorist cell" kidnap Malkin and take him back home...then there will be a book written...and finally a movie based on the event...
