Pittsburgh vs. Cincinnati

The Panthers poor season continues next Saturday afternoon when they welcome the (6-1) Bearcats to town. Pittsburgh lone two wins this year were against Grambling State and Eastern Michigan.

They can't beat Cincinnati, can they?

Probably not. Despite their loss on Saturday, the Bearcats are the better team, and the Panthers won't be able to crack that Cincy defense. And on top of that, I fully expect that this Pitt team will be completely deflated following that failed OT gamble against Navy on Thursday.

So much for that great Cincy defense. Pittsburgh scored 14 unanswered points in the second half to win, 24-17.

Another Big East team will drop from the rankings.

Re: Pittsburgh vs. Cincinnati

I think the win over Cincinatti is the direct result of Wannstedt and Cavanaugh being forced to change the way they coached during the game. Moving Cavanaugh to the sideline and Wannstedt going to the press box probably gave each of them a better feel for the game and were able to call better plays. We should keep in mind that Cincinatti had not really been beating top quality opponents but it was good to see that perhaps this Pitt team can play like a quality major college team.

Big East is getting to be just like the SEC - on any given Saturday, any team can take out any other team. Congrats to the Panthers. Big upset in my book.
