Well, more on the story... apparently the team has given D'Antoni permission to speak with the Knicks and Bulls.

"As we continue to convey, we value Mike D’Antoni as the head coach of the Phoenix Suns and would like him to continue leading this basketball team,” Suns GM Steve Kerr told the AP in a statement. “Because he has requested to speak to other teams about their head coaching vacancies, we have granted him permission.”

I think this is the end of the Suns as we know it. Nash turns 35 next year I believe, who knows if Grant Hill is going to walk and Shaq isn't in good shape etc. I guess its time to find another team to cheer for.
