Nash MVP

Not like its a big deal or anything but when Lefty polled the group as to who was gonna win the NBA MVP...i picked Nash. I know it wasn't a big surprise but anyway today he got the award and I hurt my arm patting myself on the back. Re: Nash MVP

Looks like the Arizona Republic got this one right.

Voting results break down like this, for what it's worth: 1. Nash, 2. LeBron, 3. Kobe, 4. Dirk, 5. Billups, 6. Wade, 7. Brand, 8. Duncan, 9. T. Parker, t10. Iverson, t10. S. Marion.

Elton Brand in seventh, and zero votes for Gilbert Arenas or Paul Pierce? Yikes!

Paul Pierce? His team missed the playoffs in the weak Eastern Conference. Arenas deserved at least a few votes though.

Re: Nash MVP

Gilbert Arenas deserves some votes for that excellent playoff three-pointer to send the Wiz Kids into overtime.

Re: Nash MVP

I like Nash but the real MVP this season was King James himself. The Cavs would've won like 3 games without him this season (actually, they did win 3 games without him).

Cool Re: Nash MVP

I know... I was just throwing my good friend Gotham a bone with that one.

James is the MVP. He should've been, anyway. But I would've liked to have seen Brand and AI get some more votes, though AI soured me a little with that stunt he pulled in the last game. But he did have a big year.

Re: Nash MVP

Hey Gronzy...you know and I know that James is a heck of a player...but out of respect for the elderly they give the award to Nash..BUT SERIOUSLY..James is a strong player but he just wasn't as consistent as Nash. Nash made fewer mistakes as well. This is the MVP not a slam dunk contest.

Fewer mistakes? I'm not sure what that means. I think Nash is a great player and he is MVP worthy but there wasn't any like James this year. He's hovering in some elite company with his 30 + pts, 7 rebs, and nearly 7 assists. He also managed to take the Cavs to the 2nd round (though I know the playoffs don't factor in, or isn't suppose to). That Cavs team is no where near as talented as the Suns team. I believe Nash won it because the Suns won 50+ without Amare, but no one is going to convince me that the most dominant player this season (all-around) wasn't James.

His numbers are getting scary close to Big O and he is still a kid. I think he's the best player in the league and should have won the MVP.

Re: Nash MVP

LeBron is evolving into one of the best players in NBA history.

Don't forget that even though Cavs may have been anchored by LeBron James, they still had Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Larry Hughes, Drew Gooden and an excellent point-guard named Eric Snow. Well, excellent is a stretch to describe Eric Snow but it does sound advertising.

Re: Nash MVP

Nobody mentions Kobe in this MVP talk. That is shocking considering his scoring average this year was the highest in 19 years and has only been topped by the likes of Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Jordan. Without Kobe, the Lakers would be the worst team in the NBA, even worse than the old Clippers.LeBron,Nash, and Kobe are easily the top 3 in the league, but I put Kobe ahead of Nash and see LeBron as an equal. Now LeBron is finding that you can't win by yourself now that he is facing a quality team in Detroit.

Re: Nash MVP

A lot of people have brought up Kobe, desertrat. In fact, he won the GoTeamsGo MVP award, finishing ahead of LeBron and A.I. in our voting. That was pre-playoffs, mind you... I wonder how many would've had James higher after the end of the first round?

Re: Nash MVP

I think that Nash definitely deserved the award. To me, he is the most well rounded player in the league, and he showed this last night against the Clippers after accepting his MVP trophy...

How about Elton Brand? He was 18 for 22 last night and scored 40, had 9 rebounds and 4 blocks in 42 minutes. It was amazing. If I told you the Clippers were going to shoot 59%, you would say there was no way they could lose, right? Well they did. 130-123 is like an old fashioned NBA game. The Clippers have to slow the ball down or they have no shot. No way they can run with Phoenix. Also, no reason Brand shouldn't be playing 48 minutes at this time of the year. Just slow the tempo down, that's all.

Wouldn't a well rounded player also play defense? Nash is not capable of stopping anyone in the league, he is very much one dimensional.
