Suns Spurs suspensions

According to the Associated Press, "Rules are rules, the NBA says, fair or not... So the Phoenix Suns will face the San Antonio Spurs without Amare Stoudemire and Boris Diaw on Wednesday night in Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinals... The two are serving a one-game suspension for leaving the bench area following the flagrant foul by San Antonio's Robert Horry on Steve Nash in the waning seconds of Monday night's Game 4... Horry gets a two-game suspension for what Nash called 'a quality hip-check' and for a forearm to Raja Bell in the subsequent scrum."

So Phoenix loses Stoudemire and Diaw for an incident created by the Spurs? Something don't seem right here.

You're totally right.

As a Knick fan, I saw the Knicks championship hopes go down the drain in '96 because of this rule. But I'm sure Horry will be suspended, also.

Stoudemire barely made it on the court and was pulled back so Stern probably could have let Stoudimire play. He didn't exactly leave the "bench area" which is what the rule says.

Horry gets two games, Stoudemire and Diaw get one. Amare had ONE FOOT on the court. This rule absolutely needs to change during the offseason.

every rule should have an adder that says "at the discrection of the commish"...common sense should always prevail in these matters....we are not freakin robots set to follow a line by line program...

if going to suspenec them for getting off the bench then u have to suspened go up early on a blocked dunk idea of the rule is fine to prevent huge fights but not to end seasons which the luege just did to the suns im inraged
