Ryan Howard home run record

Ryan Howard of the Phillies set a new team record yesterday with his 49th homer. The old mark of 48 belonged Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt, who achieved that total during the 1980 season. Howard currently leads the majors with 49 homers and 128 RBIs. Say it with me, now... M-V-P! M-V-P!

Re: Ryan Howard home run record

MVP! I think he deserves it this year, more than Carlos Beltran or the powerful-David Wright.

Cool Re: Ryan Howard home run record

I think I'm starting to change my mind and agree with you guys. He's unbelievable.

Re: Ryan Howard home run record

Welcome to the bandwagon, Pundit!

I'm fairly new to the "Howard for MVP" faction myself, but like you, Howard's won me over. He's absolutely unreal.

Cool Re: Ryan Howard home run record

What's really incredible about him is that most of his homers go to the opposite field. And they're not cheap Yankee stadium shots. These balls are crushed.

Re: Ryan Howard home run record

Wow, Howard just hit his 54th home run of the year. And according to Baseball Musings (see the link), he's on pace for 156 RBIs this season. That's simply phenomenal.

Re: Ryan Howard home run record

Howard hit not one but TWO home runs against the Marlins tonight, pushing his season total to 56.
