| Alou to the Phils? Seems the Phils are shopping the "senior circuit" in order to get a righty off the bench!
Between this and Nomar, I am good with that, though. We don't really need another fielder, at least not one to fill in long term! Alou Interested in Phillies? 'Who Knows?' Friday, January 23, 2009 CSNPhilly.com
The Phillies are interested in veteran outfielder Moises Alou, but is Alou interested in coming to Philadelphia?
Alou told Comcast SportsNet’s Leslie Gudel Friday: “I’m open to conversation. Right now I’m getting ready to play in the World Baseball Classic, so who knows?”
Alou, who turns 43 in July, has spent the last two seasons with the Mets. In 15 games last season, he hit .347 (17-for-49) with no homers, a pair of doubles and nine RBIs.
A first-round pick by the Pirates in 1986, Alou hasn’t played 100 games in a season since 2005 with San Francisco, when he hit .321 with 19 home runs and 63 RBIs in 123 games.
