Aaron Rowand Breaks Nose Making AMAZING Catch

In the top of the 1st inning of today's game against the Mets (before the rain delay and probable rain out), the bases were loaded w/ 2 outs. A Mets player (forgot who) hit a DEEP ball to center...Rowand went deep turned to the fence, made the catch and his face nailed the wall/fence. He fell to the ground but maintained the ball in his glove so the inning ended. He no doubt saved all three runs from scoring.

The problem was, his face hit a metal bar that's directly below the padded tier of the fence. He broke his nose, dripping blood as the trainer came with a towel. He left the game, and went to the hospital where he will receive stitches for a laceration and treated for his broken nose.

Really was as good a catch as you'll ever see.

Great... first thing I think of is that this guy is on my fantasy team and I need him this week...

Fantasy Baseball screws up your perspective on things...

Damn... missed it. I'm gonna have to go put on SportsCenter and hope I can catch a replay of the catch.

SportsCenter show it...it was ranked #2 play of the day...Griffey's walk off 11th innning homer was #1.

Yeah, I just saw it. What about what they said, that he had asked for more padding to be added there, and its scheduled to be installed next week? Man... talk about bad timing!

Cool Re: Aaron Rowand Breaks Nose Making AMAZING Catch

That may have been one of the best catches I've ever seen. I was at a Yankees - White Sox game last year and Rowand made 2 great catches but nothing like this.

Also there's a story circulating that Rowand went to Philly management and asked them to put more padding on the fence, and they were due to put it up in a few weeks.

If that's true, why would he have to ask? It can't cost that much to pad the fences properly. They put up a new ball park for hundreds of millions and then skimp for $10,000?

Re: Aaron Rowand Breaks Nose Making AMAZING Catch

Rowand was officially placed on the DL today and they called up stud pitcher Cole Hamels.

Rowand also has a slight fracture of his left eye socket. Tough dude.

That sounds serious. I hope he is alright.

I still don't understand that Thome-Rowand trade.
