| Fire Charlie Manuel? Various media sources are reporting that Phillies manager Charlie Manuel is on the hotseat.
Kevin Roberts of the Philadelphia Courier-Post Online writes the following: "A midseason managerial change isn't on Gillick's radar screen right now. Gillick said the Phillies early struggles simply aren't Manuel's fault. But the Phillies simply have to start playing better or Manuel will have to pay the price. As Gillick noted: 'Winning is the bottom line.'"
In addition, USA Today lists Manuel as #1 on the managerial hit-list, saying: "You always look first to a struggling team where the general manager didn't hire the manager. Fan expectations this year weren't as high as in recent seasons, but this team is far from a lost cause if the right kick-start can be found. Pitching help would be a more constructive solution."
